Upgrade your Chao
Trade your Chao with friends to make them more powerful. Trading Chao will increase their level up to a maximum of 3, as long as you trade them with new people.
Minimap
If you're ever stuck, don't forget to check out your minimap (on the top screen). Points of interest will be placed on the minimap to show you where to go. Shopping bags represent item shops and stars show you where to go next.
Retry
If you happen to have a hard time with a battle, don't worry. You can always retry the battle for 20 rings. The battle will be slightly easier, and you'll have full health and PPs.
Stronghold
If you're running low on health or PPs, visit a nearby stronghold to catch your breath. This can be useful if you're trying to conserve items.
POW Items
Always keep POW items on hand. If you run out of POW Points in the middle of the field, it can make the game very difficult, particularly if a number of enemies stand between you and the stronghold.
Armor Piercing
Some enemies have thick armor that is nearly impenetrable to normal attacks. When facing these enemies, use armor piercing attacks or use abilities such as Tails’ “Scan” to lower their armor.
Resurrection rings
Make sure you have a few Resurrection Rings on hand at all times. Otherwise, you might end up in a situation where you only have a single character alive against multiple enemies.
Stores
Stores only exist in a few places in the game, so always make sure you stock up while you have the chance. If you find yourself low on rings, you can fight easier enemies and sell anything they drop to the store.
Fleeing
Don’t be afraid to run away from a fight you don’t think you can win. Different enemies require different tactics to defeat them. So if you don’t have the right party members to defeat an enemy, flee the combat and change your party around.
Defense
The defense stat is incredibly useful in Sonic Chronicles. By raising this stat when you level up, it will make your character a lot harder to hit in combat. The less you get hit, the longer you last in combat and the better chance you will have to defeat your enemies.
